美國明尼蘇達州的一名男子麥可(Michael Hughes)前幾天在推特上面放上一系列在女生廁所自拍的照片，只為了抗議該州即將通過的新法規SF1543.
照片被上傳之後在推特上受到了熱烈的回響，許多人也放上了自己在相反性別的廁所自拍照表達支持。到底發生了甚麼事情呢？
A US transgender man is leading the fight against proposed legislation that would make him use the women’s restroom. Using #WeJustNeedToPee, Michael Hughes of Minnesota is posting selfies from women’s bathrooms asking if he belongs there.
麥可是一名美國的變性人，他放上這些標記為「我們只是想尿尿」(We just need to pee.)照片的原因是要抗議明尼蘇達州的新法規讓他只能使用女生廁所。

Minnesota is among four states considering laws that would require trans people to use male or female bathrooms based on the sex they were assigned at birth, not the gender they identify with. In Kentucky, for example, schools could be *sued up to $2,500 if a trans student used the “wrong” bathroom.
明尼蘇達州是美國第四個計畫通過此法規的州，法規內容規定變性人士只能根據自己出生的性別來選擇自己應該去上男廁或女廁，而非變性後的性別。在肯塔基州，學校甚至可以對走錯廁所的變性學生開罰兩千五百元以上美金。

麥可在推特上的照片附註：我看起來像是應該要去使用女廁的人嗎？共和黨的這項政策就是讓我現在站在這裡的原因，因為我的出生性別是女生，所以我只能用女廁。變性人並不會在你上廁所時偷窺你或是傷害你，我們只是想尿尿罷了。變性人的生存權也很重要！
In Hughes’ state, the Republican Party introduced a bill on March 6 to “protect and provide for the privacy and safety of all students *enrolled in public schools and to maintain order and *dignity in restrooms, locker rooms, changing rooms, showers, and other facilities where students may be in various states of undress in the presence of other students.”
在麥可的州，共和黨在這個月六號時提出這項新法案，目的是為了「保護以及提供公立學校學生的隱私及安全，好讓學生們能夠有尊嚴地使用廁所、更衣間、淋浴間等學生可能會暴露自己身體的公共場所。

到底弱勢的人是誰呢？每個人解讀的方式都不一樣。許多變性的網友們也放上了自己的廁所自拍照聲援麥可。
來自羅羅里達州的Erin：我的出生性別是女生，現在變性為男人。就是因為佛州HB583和明尼蘇達SF1543草案讓我這樣的人出現在女廁。變形人並不會試圖侵入你的私人空間，我們就跟你一樣，只是想上個廁所或是沖個澡罷了。
「這麼可愛一定是男孩子！上男廁也是正常的吧？！」
進入女廁被女生誤認為色狼、男廁又會被別的男生白眼，大小便對一般人來說是極其普通的事情，對他們來說卻總得鼓起勇氣面對其他人的眼光；包含台灣在內的許多國家都已經開始推動性別友善廁所的設置已提供各種性別、家庭或需要輔助的長者及行動不便人士使用。中性廁所的推廣不只能夠解決變性人士的困惱，對於其他需要使用的人也是有很大的幫助喔！
